The dream and prayer of every Nigerian professional player is to travel overseas and play for bigger clubs in order to change their fortunes.
Lots of African stars have featured for various clubs in other continents and many are now rich that their wealth almost know no bounds.
Below are four Nigerian stars who are stupendously rich.
1. Austin Jay Jay Okocha
Having made his mark, the former Bolton Wanderers’ star has gone into business where he is not only making money, but helping the youths to actualize their dreams.
It was revealed that the dribbler controls a conglomerate named ‘Jay Jay Okocha Group West Africa Limited’ and the company is said to have employed over 250 staff.
2. Obafemi Martins
According to a players’ union release, Martins was the fifth highest paid player in the US Major League Soccer for the 2013 season.
The 31-year-old is also the highest ever paid player for Seattle Sounders with an annual basic salary of $1.6million.
The striker owns two mansions at VGC Lagos worth N500million, a massive home in Italy worth about N800 million and he recently splashed the sum of N400 million on his charity foundation.
3. Kanu Nwankwo
Kano Nwankwo was said to own a mansion in Opebi area of Lagos state which is valued over N150 million.
The former African footballer of the year has an hotel apartment in Lagos which was said to have cost him N600 million five years ago and the hotel also rakes in over two million naira daily.

4. John Obi Mikel
John Obi Mikel is another Nigerian player who has acquired a lot of wealth from football as reports revealed that the midfielder earns an average of N20million per week excluding bonuses and income from participating in the UEFA Champions League.
